For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, through perseverance we wait eagerly for it. Romans 8:24-25
For years, I have prayed for the salvation of those in my care. Since only God can change the heart of man, prayer has developed in me the practice of waiting. If I become impatient with God, I could push too hard and cause someone to run from God. If I become lazy, I could miss an opportunity to plant a seed. When it comes to waiting on God, one is required to be in a constant listening mode, or one might miss God's directions. Obedience has to do with being able to follow God's guidance and not winging it. Everything I just wrote all depends on me expecting or hoping in God's ability to open the eyes of the spiritually blind.
I have had a question that has been sitting at the back of my mind for a few months now. If you knew the date and time of Jesus's return, what would you do differently? What would your Christmas list consist of if you knew you only had a few more months? How about, all I want for Christmas is my loved ones saved!
As we celebrate the Hope of Christmas, let's continue our pleas for those spiritually lost. While you are at it, include the extended family plan and ask God for their salvation too. Our hope in God means that we expect to see God's victory become our reality.
