“Guard what has been entrusted to you, avoiding worldly and empty chatter and the opposing arguments of what is falsely called ‘knowledge’ which some have professed and thus gone astray from the faith 1 Timothy 6:20.”
I read a phrase today from the editor of my Hebrew-Greek Study Bible that I just love. “He, who is managed by God, manages people best.” This quote has stayed with me all day. I believe how you use the power or position that God has placed you in states volumes about your character. God has given all of us authority roles whether or not you recognize it. Maybe you are a parent, older sibling, teacher, caregiver, a homemaker; the list could go on. We are all given a position of influence. How are you going to manage it?
The beginning of the verse in Timothy is critical. Whatever God has entrusted to you needs you to protect it and watch over it by avoiding unholy and fruitless talk. God requires His people to be obedient and fervent about displaying His love in our lives. Our goal should be to let Jesus’s salt and light touch every human that has contact with us. God does not need our mouth to achieve His will. Let’s all remember one of my life verses. “The more you talk, the more likely you are to sin. If you are wise, you will keep quiet Proverbs 10:19.” That position of influence is an opportunity for you to share God. Today is a new day. Maybe it is time to ask the Boss to manage you so you can be better overseer.
